JOB PURPOSE
The post holder will hold accountability and responsibility for the operational management of the designated Adult MASH team to ensure that team performance is achieved to agreed timescales and within budget. The post holder will ensure provision of a quality care management and review service which achieves positive outcomes for vulnerable adults within the statutory framework.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide professional expertise and leadership to the team and wider stakeholders in ensuring and promoting the highest professional standards of service to people to achieve successful service outcomes for users.
- This will include providing or making arrangements for formal or informal supervision of staff
- Recruiting high quality team members
- Ensuring open and effective communication within the team
- Ensuring throughput of cases to meet agreed priorities and targets
- Taking timely and appropriate action where performance falls below acceptable standards
- Ensuring the application of corporate policy and procedures on the management of absence and supporting staff to remain at work
- To lead, motivate and develop a team of professional staff, to ensure that they are able to provide a service that achieves successful outcomes for users within budget.
- To manage, review and continuously improve the operational team in a way which ensures consistently fair and timely access to community care services for Older People
- To manage and monitor individual and team performance to optimise the levels of service delivery, in line with service targets and to evaluate effectiveness of service delivery against agreed standards
- To be part of the service management team, contributing positively to service planning and implementation, the setting of priorities and performance targets
- To ensure that both team and individual plans are in place, which clearly reflect the divisional/service team business planning priorities as well as participating in the budget setting process including financial forecasting of future needs and resource allocation to ensure that cost effective and efficient services are obtained
- Adhering to the Service and Councils approach to performance management; receiving constructive feedback on personal performance required indicators and standards; following timescales and procedures of the PADA process and undertaking training as identified in the PADA
- Maintaining up-to date knowledge on developments in legislation and best practise in services for Older People to support CPD requirements
- In addition to managing the operational duties of the team, each Team Manager will also be accountable for a lead role in development of the overall service area, e.g. policy development
- Undertaking management investigations as required in adherence to agreed Human Resources procedure
- To carry out Health and Safety requirements as set out in Corporate and Service procedures and to ensure staff are familiar with these
- Where required and formally agreed, deputising for the Service Manager in their temporary absence or supporting the Service Manager in their duties by participation in project groups or other work activities
- Carrying out other related duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of this post
MUST HAVE:
Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, Occupational Therapy, Nursing or equivalent social work qualification
Evidence of continuing professional development
Registration with GSCC, HPC or relevant professional body
